miscellany monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

I mentioned wanting to go online and look for a St. Patrick's Day hand print art idea to Noah and he came up with the idea below all on his own!  Such a smart little boy I have!

Amazingly, I even hung them up right away which is a major feat these days!  I'm still loving my scrapbook frames that I change out each season.  They typically just have a piece of blank, seasonal paper in them because that requires no effort but I love when I actually get a chance to put something meaningful in them!

I had an idea (all on my own...I usually copy other people's ideas!) for a Valentine's Day foot print art canvas.  I stared at this piece of paper for weeks.

We painted our footprints (Noelle's feet: top, right corner; Noah's feet: center; my feet: lower right corner...yes, I am well aware that Noah's feet and mine are almost the same size...he only has 12 more inches until he's my height) weeks ago and then the canvas sat in my office.  I finally got around to outlining the "hearts" and tacking on the Bible verse this past weekend.  Now I just have to seal it and it'll be ready for hanging.  I love how it's turning out!

I really need to print out this picture.  It makes me smile every time I look at it!

It's been a long time since I've linked up with Carissa!  I'm happy to be back :)

A Plan for Saturday

In VERY rare fashion, I was up way before the kids were on Saturday morning.  It might have had something to do with getting sick from trying a new pizza place (never again!), turning the lights out and proceeding to trip over Noelle's bike which was in my room (?) and doing a number on my back, shoulder and arm AND finally falling asleep relatively early.

Saturday was our last "free" day before baseball games start up and Noah's coach was thoughtful enough to give us a break.  I had a few things I wanted to accomplish that I knew weren't going to be the kids' idea of fun so I decided to make a list and strategically place them in between fun things and a bribe.  Whatever works these days...

When the kids woke up, Noah was pretty excited to see the list and asked if he could check things off as we did them.  No doubt he's my child :)

We made it to Publix on our scooters without incident!  This was the first time we've ridden scooters up there but I knew they could do it because Noelle and I rode all the way to Noah's school earlier in the week which is further.  I have come to love taking them out on their scooters because it allows me to jog with them at the perfect pace.  Granted, Noelle stops a lot but I'm ecstatic that she can keep the pace that she does at three years old!  Her scooter was the best Valentine's Day gift EVER!

I was planning to take them to a grassy area to eat their donuts but changed my plans quickly when I realized that there is a haircut place right next to Publix (duh) that opens at 8 AM on Saturdays.  Score!  The place I usually take him to is further and always crowded.  So, we parked ourselves on a bench and chowed down.

Noah was not happy about the kids' cape.  He kept giving me the look of death over having to wear it!  His usual haircut place is sports-themed and much cooler, according to Noah!

Noah begged and pleaded to go to Party City before the library and St. Patrick's Day pictures since we had already gone out of order with his haircut, ha!  I don't get it but my kids are fascinated with Party City.  Whatever...I can usually get out of there much cheaper than Target so it's not all that bad!

I knew I wanted a few pictures of the kids in their St. Patrick's Day shirts but didn't really have anything planned.  We walked out of the library and there was a few benches and trees so we just took a few right there.  I was pretty happy with the way they turned out!

Last...but not least...I rewarded them with a trip to Party City!

Noelle's treat?  A Pez dispenser, ha!  I know it won't be long before she's not so easy to please.  For now, I will gladly take it!  Noah wanted a Florida Gator cup "because Uncle Kyle with love it" and some Mario toy.  Note to self, no more "secret" Mario toys where you're surprised with what's inside...he got "Princess Peach" which caused some major drama (until he decided that it would be perfect on my desk and he would give it to me as a gift if we could go back and buy another one, ha!).

True to his word, Noah checked off each of our errands!

Disclaimer: We're usually not this together which is why I wanted to document it :)

Opening Ceremonies!

Noah's Little League celebrated the start of the season tonight with an Opening Ceremony.  It was an enormous gathering in a very tight area but he had a blast running around with his teammates which made it bearable!

We had some time to kill before it started because I refused to drive down the "under construction forever" road another time today.  There is a cute park across from the baseball fields so that was an easy problem to solve!

I was entertaining Noelle throughout the ceremonies so I didn't get out onto the field to take any pictures :( This was my "best" shot, ha!

Noelle really enjoyed herself.  Apparently climbing fences and picking up sticks are enough to entertain her for an hour.

Of course, Mommy's iPhone provided some of the entertainment...

Daddy was able to join us at the end (and always ends up with cute pictures with his kids...must be nice ;) )

Noah's first game is on Friday!  We can't wait to see him in action!

Happy New Year!!

Noah, Noelle and I wish everyone a Happy New Year!!  We are SO looking forward to the year ahead!!

...and so I begin the New Year with the daunting task of catching up on all I missed out on blogging about in 2011!  I am determined to do it - at least the major events and memories that I want preserved.  I just transferred 944 pictures from my iPhone to my hard drive.  Overwhelming!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Last night, we made hot chocolate and took the "Polar Express" - aka our Radio Flyer wagon - around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights.

(Sorry about the photo quality...since I got the new iPhone, I find myself never using either of my other cameras. I need to kick that habit because the quality just isn't there most of the time.  I have 700 pictures on it right now which proves how many pictures I take on a daily basis!)

I have been playing a lot of Words With Friends lately.  Between Uncle Kyle, Sarah and Kristen, I almost always have someone to play with in the middle of the night when I should be sleeping!  It's nice to have people in my life who keep crazy schedules like I do!  It's no secret that I am not the smart one in the family.  I'm pretty sure God saved most of the brains for kid #3.  I did it, though!  I beat Uncle Kyle in one game!  You better believe that I captured that screen, haha!

{tre}

We exchanged gifts with Emma on Friday night. I can't get over how cute these three are...or the fact that two of them are mine!  So blessed!

And, I am really blessed with one the best.friends.ever!  Look what Sarah and John got me!

I am determined to find the time to make up the 2+ months of blogging that I missed.  I have so many memories that I want captured in this format, including the awesome Disney cruise that we took for Halloween!

We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Uncle Kyle, Aunt Erin, Penny and CLAIRE!!!!  They should be here this afternoon and we could not be more excited.  We are fortunate to be able to see Claire a lot through FaceTime but it will be so much sweeter to see her in person.  Noah and Noelle are really excited to meet their cousin for the first time!
